YCAP in East Nashville Received Food for Thought Grant

Thanks to you, the kids at YCAP in East Nashville are learning about nutritious foods. They are enrolled in a cool after school and summer program that focuses on nutrition, cooking and gardening. Their curriculum also includes preparing and enjoying foods from countries throughout the world.

We are so excited that the first grant from our Food for Thought foundation was awarded to this great organization. It was terrific to see the new commercial kitchen the students will be learning in and meet some of the kids in the program. One of them wants to become a chef – so this is one huge first step in that direction.

We love food and we care deeply for children. We know that minds cannot tap into their creative potential when tummies are empty. Through your support of roux and Food for Thought you are helping us provide grants to organizations like YCAP that feed children in our community.

Every January we like to gather as a croux and plan for the year ahead. It serves as a holiday celebration and a strategy session. We look forward to it every year. Over the last few years, we’ve also begun incorporating a “word of the year” practice, where we each choose a word that we will focus on throughout the year.
